Sucky movies dominate the Philippine box office for 2008. It seems that Pinoys have a penchant for low quality films. In this list, only two movies were great – “Wanted” and “The Dark Knight”. I haven’t seen “Iron Man” and “Kung Fu Panda”, but I heard that they were good. “A Very Special Love” is actually charming. It is certainly not the best romcom of the year, but definitely fun to watch. And thank God, I haven’t seen “Twilight”. Sometimes, it is better not to have an opinion, don’t you think? While the rest of the movies in the list are all crap and that includes “Caregiver” which was rated A by the Cinema Evaluation Board. And no love for “Wall-E”? It is undeniably avant-garde compared to other animated films, but no doubt that it is one of the best and most accessible films of 2008. Philippines, we got a problem.

I saw “Quantum of Solace” and “My Bestfriend’s Girlfriend” but I did not bother to make a movie review for them. On a scale of 1 to 5, 5 being the highest, I’ll give the former a 2-star rating, while the latter a 1-star rating.

You're correct. When the likes of Twilight and A Very Special Love (though I have to admit that I was expecting it to be 2008's top grosser) pulls more audience than a stellar movie such as The Dark Knight, something's horribly wrong.
And to think, "The Dark Knight" is now the second highest-grossing film of all-time next to "Titanic".
